In winter, Schlinig is all about cross-country skiing: Located right in the village is the Nordic Ski Center Schlinig, which has gained recognition especially through hosting international cross-country skiing competitions.

But it’s not just cross-country skiers who get their money’s worth here – ski tourers and snowshoe hikers also find ideal conditions in the snow-covered winter landscape for unforgettable nature experiences.

Those who prefer a faster pace will enjoy the nearby Watles ski area, offering 18 kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes. As part of the Ortler Ski Arena network, the “Adventure Mountain Watles,” as the locals affectionately call it, delights winter sports fans of all ages – whether skiers, snowboarders, or tobogganers.

A special highlight is the 4-kilometer-long natural toboggan run at Watles, which starts right at the mountain station. The thrilling ride down into the valley offers fun and excitement for the whole family – even at night, as the run is illuminated on certain days.

Skiing at Watles – Winter Fun Just Around the Corner

Just a few minutes from the Zangerlehof lies one of South Tyrol’s sunniest ski areas: Watles. Skiing here is a relaxing nature experience – far from the hustle and bustle of large ski resorts, with plenty of space, peace and quiet, and stunning panoramic views of the Vinschgau mountains.

With around 18 kilometers of slopes reaching up to 2,500 meters in elevation, Watles is ideal for families, leisure skiers, and anyone who enjoys a manageable, stress-free skiing experience. The wide slopes offer perfect conditions for both beginners and more advanced skiers.

For the youngest guests, there is a small children’s area with a magic carpet and loving supervision – ensuring that even the little ones can have fun in the snow. At the base station, a ski school and rental shop are ready to assist you.
